Finally got my hands on the limited edition CD of Reuben’s music from the film, To Speak from Reuben’s Dad on Sunday afternoon…
It was a nice chat and i got to know Reuben even better now. Some of the things his dad told me about him just makes me wanna chuckle… Will always remember his cheeky smile… >_<
“There are dreams that may seem good but are only worth a short while, and there are dreams that you know you will have no regrets living for the rest of your life. Opposition to these dreams test how well we’ve thought it through and whether we really want it. ” - Reuben Kee. http://reubenkee.com
And I already know my dream is, the dream i wanna keep alive for the rest of my life….
Was really upset that my old phone died and all my messages were gone… messages i will never receive again from…
Dreamt of him last night…. really miss him.
The higher you get your hopes up, the harder you will fall when it didn’t come true.
After months and months of waiting… finally got the word two days ago that my photographs did not make it into the finals of BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year, the world’s most prestigious award for Wildlife Photography. Competing against over 32,000 entries and 3,000+ photographers from all over the world…. it’s a small consolation to know that 4 of my photos did made it to the semi-finals.
However, I’m still very disappointed. Those 4 photos that got into the semi-finals were not the photos which i would thought would make it to that stage. I had initially thought 3 other photos that i submitted were much better in terms of composition, color, execution and story. I have pinned so much high hopes on them that when those didn’t even made it to the semi-finals, it came as a big shock that literally shaken the very core of my being.
That’s the thing about being an idealist… Believing in yourself that you think that everything is so possible and within your reach if you reach high enough… And higher and higher you go…. until one day the lightning strikes you and you fall back to earth like a fallen star…. all burnt out.
Then again, each failure serves as a great lesson. That i truly believe. I finally get what the judges are looking for by comparing the 4 photos that did went on to the semi finals, and those others that didn’t.
Till next year! I’ll be reaching for the stars again!
Was really disappointed by the usual printer i always goes to ever since my poly years… was at Douby Ghaut, Peace Center to print some of my works and the print job was so terrible… the color looks muddy, the dark areas looks blotchy and the details in my photos were totally lost…. they actually looked blur! After 4 tries, i gave up. And good thing they didn’t intend to charge me for those bad prints.
They kept insisting the printer settings has always been the same and that there is nothing they can do that the printer is not doing my photos justice. I was really disappointed as they used to do such a great job on my namecards and photo prints. Don’t know what happened to them.
And so i went to a 2nd shop, one level down. First try, saw the result… slightly better than the first be just not acceptable. And i gave up on the first try knowing that it’s going to be the same result no matter how many times tried. It’s just not the quality i’m looking for.
Just when i though my precious saturday afternoon is going down the drain, went to Color Vizo at Sunshine Plaza and first try was a charm! Vibrant colors on print as seen on the screen, sharp details, and the pictures just comes alive! Only had to do a few slight adjustment to brightness of my files as it’s always appears darker on print.
I’m thinking the reason may lies in the fact that they use Fuji Xerox printer and Apple computers. I love Fuji… my very first camera was a Fujifilm and the colors are just so nice.
Truly a match made in my heaven….
Was at the printer shop until 5.56PM when i have a movie to catch at 6PM at Cathay… Rush, rush, rush!
In the end, it was a well-spent Saturday and i enjoyed Narnia, Prince of Caspian and the company very much. ![]()

New works up at C.S.Ling Showcase!
So i haven’t been blogging as of late… i think i’ve lost the touch for blogging after months of MIA…
Well life has been super busy, but good. Work has been fulfilling and colleagues have still been great so far. I’m also now NOT the only girl in the office, haha
Time really flies… It would have been one year this coming May since i’ve joined. The company has grown from the 6 of us to 20+ ( and more to come )… It’s been challenging and we have been working day in and out… but more exciting things have yet to come. This is just the beginning…
I’m still very much inspired by Nature… always taking the time in the morning to greet the chirping birds, smell the grass and flowers and see the butterflies flutter by…
I still have my sights on photography… and I’m actually aiming to go Antarctica by age 25. I still haven’t had enough of cold after the Japan trip! haha….
I shall leave you all with a quote from my new-found hero. Till my next entry….
“I just wish the world was twice as big and half of it was still unexplored.” - Sir David Attenborough
Managed to watch the 1st episode of BBC: Planet Earth. I was totally in awe… The grand design of Nature so beautifully captured…
My jaws literally dropped when i saw the Great White leap out of the ocean in 40x slow motion…
and very beautiful but strange Birds of Paradise… One of them actually dances like a ballerina!
My appreciation and respect for our home has just increased another notch… I also take my hats off for the crew and film-makers of BBC: Planet Earth… I really have no idea how they managed to capture some of the rare footages… It’s really mind-blowing.
This whole Planet Earth DVD series is definitely a must-have. But it’s pretty ex… yet to get my hands on it. >_ As anyone one would have guessed, now i have more places to travel added to my life list!
